Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1.20 now available!

    Available today, maintenance release 6.1.20 includes improvements and bug fixes for Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1. This release includes improved support for Apple macOS Big Sur and introduces support for the latest upstream Linux kernel 5.11/5.12 for the host and for virtual machines running on top of VirtualBox. It allows developers and IT professionals to work and integrate with the leading-edge upstream kernel on their preferred devices without disrupting the existing operating environment. In addition, Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1.20 delivers the April 2021 Critical Patch Update (CPU) to address security vulnerabilities. 

    Notable bug fixes and enhancements include:

    • Virtual Machine Management:

      • Fixed VM performance depending on the timing of various actions (regression in 6.1.0)

      • Fixed guest OS hanging under certain circumstances when Hyper-V is present

      • Fixed Guru Meditation error when using a nested hypervisor

      • Fixed a SMAP related host panic affecting Oracle Solaris 11.4 systems with Intel Haswell CPUs or later

    • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: Add cloud-init support for export to OCI and for OCI instance creation

    • Audio: Multiple fixes and enhancements

    • Network: Multiple fixes and enhancements

    • NVMe: Fixed sporadic Windows VM hang or reboot on high CPU load

    • Linux host and guest: Supports kernel versions 5.11 and 5.12

    • Linux Guest Additions: Fixed kernel module build for RHEL 8.4 beta and CentOS Stream
