vSphere 6.7 Update 1 Released

  • On Aug 27 2018, VMware announced many improvements coming in vSphere 6.7 Update 1 / vSAN 6.7 Update 1, which I wrote about here.

On Oct 16 2018, the VCSA and ESXi ISO bits became available for download, seen on Virtually Ghetto here including release notes and download links. As usual, you'll want to actually read those before proceeding, and be sure any 3rd party software you use such as backup have been tested with this release.

I'm already testing these bits myself in my home lab, which is currently over 4,000 miles away, see how here.

    VCSA 6.7 to 6.7 Update 1

I had to change the Update Server URL, following along with this VMware KB 55683:

    55683

My VCSA 6.7 VAMI Update tab had this default URL:

    https://vapp-updates.vmware.com/vai-catalog/valm/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/6.7.0.14000.latest/

Following along with the KB, I changed it to this URL:

    https://vapp-updates.vmware.com/vai-catalog/valm/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/6.7.0.10000.latest/

then the upgrade proceeded without incident, showing the following confirmation on VAMI's Summary Page, as also seen in my video below:

    Version:
    6.7.0.20000
    Build number
    10244745

    VCSA-67U1-DCUI

Having followed my simple certificate fix article in the past, after this upgrade, I noticed that all my certificates were intact thus my browsers were still happy, but I did have to recreate my handy Chrome shortcuts, well worth the minor effort.

    ESXi 6.7 to 6.7 Update 1

Once you're done upgrading your VCSA, you can use VUM to proceed with upgrading your ESXi hosts. If you'd prefer the ESXCLI method instead, my article has now been updated accordingly:

    Launch-consoleI love this new feature!

This upgrade went very well, using my Xeon D-1541 based Bundle to record this upgrade video remotely from 4,000 miles away, my apologies for the audio and video quality.
