How do I list all the software installed on my linux system?
-
The Redhat Package Manager, know as rpm. Is used to install, remove, and modify software.
To list all installed software:
# rpm -qa | more gnome-mime-data-2.4.1-5 mailcap-2.1.17-1 redhat-logos-1.1.26-1 dump-0.4b39-3.EL4.2 termcap-5.4-3 apr-0.9.4-24.5 bluez-hcidump-1.11-1 chkconfig-1.3.13.3-2 dosfstools-2.8-15 ethtool-1.8-4 flex-2.5.4a-33 atk-1.8.0-2 iputils-20020927-18.EL4.2 ... ...
If you are looking for a particular software component, it is best to use grep.
# rpm -qa | grep eth ethtool-1.8-4 ethereal-0.10.14-1.EL4.1
