How do I change the keyboard configuration in Linux?

  • In an XTerm or a GNOME terminal:

Type system-config-keyboard at a shell prompt, make the right selection (i.e. United Kingdom) from the menu and click on OK.

    # system-config-keyboard
    Loading /lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/uk.map.gz
