The User Datagram Protocol (UDP) protocol is a connectionless form of network communication. It does not have many of the features that make TCP a reliable form of network communication. This however does not interpret to UDP being less useful than TCP. For specific applications it proves to be better than TCP because it has less overhead than TCP.
