A TCP/IP Network Socket consists of three things:
- An IP address
- Transport protocol
- A port number
For example:
(10.50.1.2, TCP, 80) is a socket.A socket is a connection between client (your laptop, PC, etc) to a remote server, for example running a web server on port 80.
Your computer will send and receive data via these sockets.
