Jon Postel (1943 - 1998), For 3 decades RFC Editor, Involvement in protocols that made The Internet possible, protocols like SMTP & TCP/IP are very much a part of The Modern Internet. He also the founder of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). Then later, a key figure in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
