Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1.16 now available!

    Oracle has released VirtualBox 6.1 maintenance release 16 that includes improvements and bug fixes for Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1. This maintenance release introduces support for the latest upstream Linux kernel 5.9 for the host as well as for virtual machines running on top of VirtualBox. It allows developers and IT professionals to work and integrate the latest cutting-edge upstream kernel on their preferred devices without disrupting the existing operating environment. In addition, Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1.16 delivers October 2020 Critical Patch Update (CPU) to address security vulnerabilities. 

    Notable bug fixes and enhancements include:

    • Windows host: Fixed random memory and register-state corruptions when Hyper-V is used.

    • Virtual machine management: Fixed VMSVGA 3D support with Linux guests when Hyper-V is used.

    • macOS: Fixed some Qt related crashes on macOS Big Sur and improved installer for this new macOS release.

    • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: Fixed the issue that network integration was not working behind some proxies.

    • Linux host and guest: Added support fort kernel version 5.9.

    • Linux guest: Fixed Guest additions build for Oracle Linux 8.3 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.3 beta.

    • Security fixes: Includes October 2020 Critical Patch Update (CPU).
