How do i exclude a device from being managed by networkmanager?

Add an entry in the /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-* files, for example ifcfg-eth2. The default in later redhat releases it to manage network devices using NetworkManager by default, to prevent this add the following to the ifcfg-eth2

NM_CONTROLLED=no
