Why is there pcs & crm to manage pacemaker clusters?

Pacemaker clusters can be managed using both commands. They are cli interface to pacemaker clusters.

Cluster resource manager (crm)
Pacemaker CoroSync (pcs)

It appears that crm was used to begin with and now pcs is preferred. The Clusterlabs use pcs for their demos.
