AWS Elastic Block Storage. Block storage used with AWS EC2 Instances.
- Various types of block storage to suit your application needs. From standard SSD volumes to SDD volumes that provide better throughput and optimization. There is also magnetic storage.
- Filesystems are created on AWS EBS block storage or they can be used raw.
- Volumes can be encrypted.
- You can create point-in-time snapshots.
- Snapshots can be moved around AWS regions.
- Snapshots in a public data set can be restore to EBS volumes and integrated with other AWS cloud-based application.
- Performance of your EBS volumes can be monitored via another AWS service called CloudWatch.
