What do the acronyms stand for?
HVM - Hardware virtual machine.
PV - Paravirtual machine.HVM presents the fully hardware to the virtual machine and boots up using a master boot record of the root block device. It is essentially like using a bare metal server.
PV is a virtual machine that is more closely tied to the underlying hardware of the host server.
